From the Macro Economics Classroom to an Internship at CITIC: A Journey of Economic Perspective

图片
Hello, everyone. welcome to my fourth blog post. My journey as an economics student has been an enriching blend of academic theory and the real-world challenges of global business. In this post, I’d like to share how classroom insights and hands-on experiences have shaped my understanding of the dynamic global economy. Enlightenment in the Macroeconomics Classroom During my freshman year, my macroeconomics class introduced me to the core principles of economic growth, inflation, and the intricate interplay between monetary policies and global markets. Our professor emphasized that even slight adjustments in interest rates or money supply can set off cascading effects across nations. One afternoon, after class, I read an in-depth online article about the European Central Bank's rate adjustments. The clear presentation of data and analysis made it evident how theoretical models translate into real-world phenomena. This encounter not only sharpened my interest in international economi...

Newbie Investor in the Globalization Wave: Sensing Crises and Strategically Navigating Growth

Hello everyone, welcome to my third blog post. I am an economics student who occasionally engages in stock trading. Although I am not a seasoned investor—merely a beginner with limited trading experience—I have come to appreciate the distinct challenges and appeal of financial market fluctuations in our globalized era. In this post, I would like to share some of my personal experiences and discuss how, as an ordinary investor, I strive to maintain a rational perspective amid the waves of globalization. This interconnectedness is evident not only in international trade and supply chains but also in its profound influence on financial markets. During the pandemic, with ongoing changes in economic indicators and policy adjustments across nations, the US stock market experienced significant volatility. Although my trading experienc...

Hello everyone! I‘m Yuanqing Wang, and welcome to my second blog post! Globalization has a long history. Long ago, ancient merchants sailed across the seas on the Sea Silk Road, carrying silk, spices, and porcelain between the East and West. These early trade routes not only moved goods but also shared ideas, culture, and technology. While these ancient routes laid the foundation for global trade, today’s world is much more connected. Advances in technology and fast transportation have turned globalization into a powerful force for economic growth, but this progress also comes with new challenges. In my first chapter, I described the modern supply chain for computer parts—from Norway’s silica sand to Germany’s refining process, Taiwan’s wafer production, Malaysia’s packaging, and finally, assembly in Shenzhen. This story shows how different countries work together to produce a tiny yet powerful chip. Today, companies use high-tech tools and fast shipping to move goods around the world ...

Hello everyone! I‘m Yuanqing Wang, a student at McMaster University, and welcome to my first blog post! I love playing all kinds of games on my computer, which has given me experience in assembling computers. Just Thursday morning, I received a long-awaited package - it contained an AMD 9800X3D processor and an ASUS B650A motherboard. Opening the box, the motherboard surprised me. Although it is only 30x20 cm, it is filled with electronic parts from more than a dozen countries. In the corner it says "Made in China", but when I look closely with a magnifying glass, I see capacitors from Japan, power chips from Texas Instruments in the United States, and the AMD 9800X3D chip itself marked "Made in Malaysia". There is a global story behind this tiny chip. A Processor's Journey Around the World The starting point of silica sand – fire and ice in Norway Every CPU starts with silica sand. The quartz needed for my 9800X3D probably comes from the fjords on the west coas...
